How to apply

This section provides all the information you will need to choose the right grant programme for your heritage project. 

Online applications
Online pre-application advice forms and application forms are now available for the following programmes:

  • Heritage Grants (grants of more than £50,000)
  • Your Heritage (grants of between £3,000 and £50,000)
  • Young Roots (grants of between £3,000 and £25,000 for young people celebrating heritage)
  • Townscape Heritage Initiative (grants of between £500,000 and £2,000,000 that help communities to regenerate the historic parts of their towns and cities)
  • Parks for People (grants of between £250,000 and £5million for projects involving urban or rural green spaces designed for informal recreation and enjoyment)
  • Repair Grants for Places of Worship (£10,000 to £250,000 in England and Scotland, £10,000 to £100,000 in Northern Ireland and Wales)
  • Landscape Partnership is our grant programme to support schemes of between £250,000 and £2million led by partnerships of local, regional and national interests which aim to conserve areas of distinctive landscape character throughout the UK.
  • Skills for the Future is a new £5million HLF programme supporting organisations across the UK to create heritage training placements. Online forms will be available here from 2 December 2009.

We strongly recommend that you read the application introduction and help notes for the programme that you want to apply to before sending in a preapplication enquiry. However, if you wish to edit or review your current application form then log on here.

Once you are logged on you will be able to see a list of all of your cases with HLF. This includes pre-application enquiries, first and second round applications and live projects. To access these you will need your unique reference number.
